Wizz Air passengers may face an unexpected surcharge for a common travel neck pillow. According to the airline's rules, such an accessory is not automatically considered a free item, even if the passenger puts it on immediately before boarding.
If the pillow does not fit within the allowed carry-on baggage allowance, the carrier may classify it as a separate item exceeding the established limit. In this case, the passenger will have to pay the corresponding fee, which can reach 65 euros.
The problem is particularly relevant for passengers with the cheapest basic fare. It allows only one small carry-on item measuring up to 40 × 30 × 20 cm. A large travel pillow may simply not fit into such a backpack.
However, in practice, the situation depends on the airline's staff. Passengers note that personnel at the boarding gate do not always pay attention to pillows worn around the neck.
