In January–July 2026, 13.385 billion m³ of natural gas were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus Pipeline. According to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, this is 1.3% more than in the same period last year.

In total, 23.99 billion m³ of gas passed through Azerbaijan's main gas pipelines in the first seven months of the year — 2.4% more year-on-year. Thus, the South Caucasus Pipeline accounted for 55.8% of the total transportation volume.

The gas pipeline is designed to deliver gas from the Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, through the territory of Azerbaijan and Georgia, to Turkey. Further, Azerbaijani gas enters the European market as part of the Southern Gas Corridor.

The increase in transportation volumes is occurring against the backdrop of the growing importance of the Azerbaijani direction for gas supplies to Europe, where Baku is gradually increasing its role as one of the energy suppliers.
