Georgia's Radio Market Loses Ad Revenue: Quarterly Income Down Nearly 8%

Radio stations earned 1.8 million GEL from advertising, with total revenue for the first half of the year reaching 3.2 million GEL

The advertising revenue of Georgian radio broadcasting companies in the second quarter of 2026 amounted to 1.8 million GEL. Compared to April–June last year, the figure decreased by 7.9%, according to data from the Communications Commission.

Direct advertising accounted for the main part of advertising revenue — 86.8% of the total volume. Another 12.6% came from sponsorship placements, while the share of commercial announcements was 0.6%.

The decline continues for the second consecutive quarter. In January–March, radio stations received 1.4 million GEL in advertising revenue, which is 15% less than the result for the same period in 2025. At that time, direct advertising accounted for 90.2% of revenue, and sponsorship for 9.1%.

Thus, in the first six months of 2026, Georgian radio broadcasting companies earned 3.2 million GEL from advertising. This category includes not only regular commercials, but also sponsorship, product placement, teleshopping, and commercial announcements.
