According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the average price of jet fuel decreased by 7.5% over the past week, reaching $147 per barrel. Despite the short-term decline, the cost remains 63% higher than the level of the same period in 2025.
Fuel costs are one of the largest expenditure items for airlines, so price changes directly affect the cost of transportation and the financial performance of the industry.
In Europe, the average price of jet fuel was $151 per barrel, a decrease of 8% over the week. At the same time, the annual growth reached 66%, and the region's share in the global price index is 28%.
In North America, fuel prices fell by 7% over the week to $147 per barrel. Compared to last year, the figure increased by 60%. In the Asia-Pacific region, the price decreased by 6.7% to $141 per barrel, but remains 63% higher than the annual value.
The lowest figure was recorded in the Middle East – $139 per barrel. Over the week, the cost decreased by 7%, but increased by 66% compared to last year.
