The construction of a commercial Tier III data center has begun in the country, which is expected to enhance the reliability of digital infrastructure and create new opportunities for businesses, banks, and government organizations.
The project is being implemented by Silknet, and its subsidiary Silk Cloud will be responsible for operations. The facility will have a capacity of 2 MW and fault-tolerant infrastructure for cloud computing, corporate services, and artificial intelligence tasks. The data center will ensure 24/7 service operation and allow companies to store data directly in Georgia.
Orange is the strategic partner for the project. Integrated Solutions, a subsidiary of Orange Polska, is responsible for partner selection and implementation oversight. BCG, Atos, Coteccons Construction as the EPC contractor, and Huawei Technologies are also participating in the project.
The data center will utilize Silknet's telecommunications infrastructure, including a fiber-optic network spanning over 4000 km. It has international connections with Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, providing access to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia through them.
The first certified facility is planned to be launched in 2027. The project is expected to strengthen Georgia's digital resilience, enhance data sovereignty, and help the country solidify its position as a regional digital hub.
