Guests visit Georgia less often but leave billions: tourists spent 3 billion GEL in three months

The flow of foreign travelers to the country has decreased, but Georgia has maintained a high level of tourist activity, with Russians, Turks, and Armenians once again being the main guests.

In the second quarter of 2026, Georgia was visited by 1.3 million international travelers, which is 5.2% less than in the same period last year. A total of 1.7 million entries by foreigners were registered, and the number of tourist visits amounted to about 1.2 million — a decrease of 2.7%.

Most visitors came from Russia — 328.9 thousand people, or 25.1% of the total number of foreign guests. Turkey took second place with a share of 16.9%, and Armenia third with 10.8%. In terms of visits, citizens of Russia — 380.1 thousand, Turkey — 287 thousand, and Armenia — 199.6 thousand also became leaders.

Despite the decrease in the number of travelers, foreign guests spent 3 billion GEL in Georgia during the quarter. However, this is 13.3% less than a year earlier. The average expenditure per visitor decreased by 9.2% and amounted to 1922 GEL. The most popular destinations remain Tbilisi and Adjara, which accounted for 875.5 thousand and 621.3 thousand visits, respectively.
