On the morning of July 25, Georgia experienced its second large-scale power outage in two days. The Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE) reported that the accident began around 08:00 local time, and within five minutes, specialists began gradually restoring electricity supply to Tbilisi and most regions of the country.
The company stated that restoration work would be completed as soon as possible, but the exact causes of the new outage have not yet been disclosed. GSE reported that specialists are simultaneously rectifying the consequences of the accident and analyzing the circumstances that led to the failure. The results of the investigation are promised to be released later.
This is the second major blackout in Georgia in recent days. The previous outage occurred on the night of July 24 and affected Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, and other cities, causing metro shutdowns, disruptions to railway transport, water supply, and mobile internet. Amidst the repeated accidents, the energy regulator GNERC launched an emergency inspection and granted a special commission access to data from all energy companies.
