In the first six months of 2026, Georgia received $1.93 billion from international tourism, which is 2% less than the figure for the same period last year. The decline was mainly due to a drop in revenues in the second quarter, when receipts amounted to $1.1 billion, a decrease of 3.8%.
One of the factors contributing to the decline was the events in the Middle East, which affected tourist flows from the region. In particular, the number of tourists from Iran decreased by almost half, and the flow from Israel decreased by 14%. At the same time, Russia remains the largest source of tourist revenue for Georgia – in six months, travelers from this country brought $307.1 million to the economy.
Turkey took second place with revenues of $255 million, and Israel third with $222.7 million. Azerbaijan with $107.6 million and Ukraine with $99 million also entered the top five. At the same time, the Ukrainian market showed one of the highest growth rates – tourist spending increased by 42%. Revenues from travelers from EU countries and Great Britain also significantly increased: in six months, they brought Georgia $335.6 million, which is 21% more than last year's result.
