The volume of oil transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in July 2026 decreased by approximately 100,000 tons compared to the previous month, reaching about 2.1 million tons. In the first half of the year, 12.7 million tons of oil were pumped through the main pipeline.
At the same time, the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline, which was shut down in June, continues to be idle. Georgian authorities state that, in accordance with agreements with Azerbaijan, its operation is planned to resume by the end of the year.
July also saw an important change in infrastructure management: BP transferred its functions as operator of the BTC pipeline to Azerbaijani SOCAR. After this, BP completely ceased managing both pipelines passing through Georgian territory – Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Supsa. SOCAR remains the largest shareholder of BTC with a 32.97% stake, while BP owns 30.1% of the project.
