Despite state support, agriculture continues to experience a severe shortage of harvesting equipment.

The problem is particularly acute during the harvesting campaign, when small and medium-sized farms are forced to wait their turn for specialized combines. The situation is exacerbated by climate change: if previously there was about a month for harvesting, now the favorable period in some regions has shrunk to 10–15 days.

Industry representatives believe that the current co-financing program should also be extended to the purchase of used machinery, as new machines costing up to 2 million lari remain inaccessible to many farmers even with subsidies.

From 2019–2025, the state allocated more than 42 million lari to update the agricultural machinery fleet, with 588 farms receiving support. In 2026, the program continues to operate: 5.8 million lari have been allocated for it, and compensation amounts to up to 30% of the equipment cost, but not more than 150 thousand lari per recipient.
