$212 million left Georgia in six months. Azerbaijan became the main recipient of remittances

The volume of transfers from the country more than doubled, and the total inflow of money from abroad reached almost $2 billion

In the first half of 2026, $212.8 million was transferred from Georgia abroad, which is 111.7% more than in the same period last year. These data are provided by the National Bank of Georgia.

Azerbaijan once again became the leader among transfer destinations. Over six months, $36.5 million was sent there – 75.3% more than a year earlier. Turkey took second place with a transfer volume of $33.8 million, and Russia took third, with $26.1 million directed there.

The top ten largest recipients also included Ukraine – $13.4 million, Greece – $12.7 million, Uzbekistan – $11.2 million, Kazakhstan – $9.2 million, Italy – $8.2 million, Germany – $6.1 million, and the USA – $5.8 million.

At the same time, the money flow in the opposite direction remains significantly larger. From January to June 2026, about $1.9 billion entered Georgia from abroad, which is $78 million, or 4%, more than last year's figure.

The highest volume of incoming transfers was recorded in June – $348 million. This is approximately 10% more than in June 2025.
