TAV Airports bets on Georgia: Tbilisi Airport prepared for a new aviation boom

The company considers the Georgian market one of the fastest-growing among the 27 countries where it operates and is expanding its infrastructure for future passenger traffic growth.

Turkish operator TAV Airports sees huge potential in the development of Georgia's aviation industry and intends to continue expanding its presence in the country. This was stated by Frank Meryda, a member of the board and chairman of the executive committee of the company, during the launch ceremony of the Tbilisi International Airport expansion project.

According to Meryda, among all 27 countries where TAV Airports operates, Georgia shows some of the highest growth rates. The company expects to take advantage of new opportunities arising from the country's economic development and increased demand for air travel.

The head of TAV Airports noted that the company and the Georgian government share a common vision for the future of aviation infrastructure. According to him, the country is developing rapidly, and the growth of tourist and business traffic requires further expansion of airport capacities.

The company already has experience in implementing large projects in Georgia – in particular, the development of Batumi International Airport, which was modernized in 2021 despite the difficult situation in global aviation due to the pandemic.

The new Tbilisi International Airport expansion project is expected to increase its capacity and prepare the air hub for further passenger traffic growth. TAV Airports believes that investments in Georgian aviation infrastructure will be an important element of the country's long-term development.
