APM Terminals Poti announced the purchase of a new multi-purpose mobile harbor crane worth $7.1 million. The equipment is expected to enhance the terminal's operational capabilities and increase flexibility in handling growing cargo flows.
The crane delivery is scheduled for late 2026. According to company estimates, the new equipment will allow for an additional handling capacity of up to 650,000 TEU of containerized cargo, as well as an increase in non-containerized cargo handling by approximately 500,000 tons. This is expected to reduce vessel turnaround times and improve overall port efficiency.
The Port of Poti, located on the Black Sea coast, remains one of the key transport hubs in the region. A significant portion of maritime container traffic related to Georgia, as well as neighboring South Caucasus countries, passes through it. The company notes that the infrastructure modernization aims to strengthen the port's role as a link between Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia amidst growing trade traffic.
