TAV Georgia is negotiating with the airline Georgian Airways to launch direct flights from Batumi International Airport to European cities. Milan is being considered as the first destination.
This was announced by Tea Zakharadze, General Director of TAV Georgia. According to her, the main task is to expand the route network of Batumi Airport and increase passenger traffic through European destinations.
Negotiations began after the launch of regular air service between Tbilisi and Batumi, the first flight of which was operated on June 25. TAV Georgia expects that with sufficient load on the domestic route, international service will also be opened.
Currently, there are no direct flights from Batumi Airport to European cities. At the same time, Milan is considered one of the most popular destinations for residents of Georgia. Flights to this Italian city are currently operated from Tbilisi by two airlines, as well as from Kutaisi.
A final decision on the launch of the new route has not yet been made. According to Tea Zakharadze, after the completion of negotiations with Georgian Airways, the company will announce additional details.
