Georgian Airways has started operating direct flights on the Tbilisi–Batumi route. The first flight has already departed from Tbilisi International Airport, opening regular air communication between the country's two largest cities.
Flights will be operated four times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Departure from Tbilisi is scheduled for 09:00, and the return flight from Batumi for 19:30. The flight time is approximately 45 minutes.
The one-way ticket price is set at 295 GEL. Thus, air travel is positioned as a fast, but relatively premium option for moving between the capital and the Black Sea resort.
The launch of the route was marked by a ceremonial event at Tbilisi Airport with the participation of aviation industry representatives, including the airline's management, as well as representatives of civil aviation and the airport operator.
The new flight expands the country's domestic transport network and can become an alternative to road and rail transport, especially during the high tourist season.
