Caucasus Summer Railway Corridor Returns: Yerevan, Tbilisi, and Batumi to be Connected by One Route Again

The seasonal train is launched amidst a tourism peak and will temporarily replace regular lines between the capitals

From June 14 to early October, the seasonal railway service Yerevan – Tbilisi – Batumi will resume operation in the region. The route connects Armenia with the Black Sea coast of Georgia and is traditionally launched only for the summer period when passenger traffic sharply increases due to the tourist season.

The train runs every other day, with alternating departures from Yerevan and Batumi. Passengers have access to different classes of service – from more affordable open-plan carriages to compartment and sleeping cars, making the route both mass-market and oriented towards tourists traveling between the countries of the region.

During the operation of the seasonal train, direct regular service between Yerevan and Tbilisi is suspended: in fact, one long route replaces several directions at once. The entire journey takes about 15–16 hours and includes border control at the Ayrum – Sadakhlo section, which remains a key railway crossing in the region and determines the stability of the entire service.
