According to a fresh review of consumer spending by TBC Capital, residents of Georgia have started spending significantly more on fuel when paying with bank cards. In April 2026, the volume of cashless spending through TBC Bank channels increased by 27% compared to the same period last year. Analysts attribute the growth to both rising fuel prices and more active use of cashless payments.
At the same time, the average transaction size also increased. If in April 2025, motorists spent an average of 51 GEL per transaction at gas stations, now the figure has reached 56 GEL. This indicates a continued increase in drivers' expenses even with the same volume of trips.
Increased activity was also recorded in the field of car maintenance. Cashless spending on car repairs increased by 8% over the year. However, here there is an opposite trend with the average check: it decreased from 51 to 39 GEL. Experts suggest that car owners have started to seek minor repairs and services more often, trying to avoid large expenses amid general price increases.
