Georgian Ports Significantly Increase Cargo Turnover

Container and transit shipments intensify amid expansion of logistics corridor

In Georgia, from January to April 2026, the volume of cargo handled at seaports and terminals reached 5.95 million tons. Compared to the same period last year, the indicator increased by 21%, reflecting intensified transit activity and the development of transport infrastructure.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, container traffic also showed growth: the volume amounted to 258,583 TEU, which is 8% higher than last year's level. Positive dynamics were recorded in all key cargo categories, including ferry and general cargo transportation.

The most significant growth was demonstrated by ferry cargo (+34%) and general cargo (+33%), as well as containerized and bulk flows. Authorities note that such indicators strengthen Georgia's role as a regional logistics hub and confirm the stable development of the country's maritime infrastructure.
