Georgia has expanded its social support program, increasing electricity subsidies for socially vulnerable and large families. The decision aims to ensure that citizens' actual electricity costs do not rise after tariff adjustments.
According to the country's Ministry of Health, families with rating scores below 70,000 now receive an additional compensation of 5 tetri per kWh, and the overall support level has been raised to 8.5 tetri. For the group with scores from 70,000 to 150,000, a subsidy for 200 kWh at a similar rate is provided.
Measures for large families have been separately strengthened: basic assistance has been increased from 20 to 30 GEL, and an additional 10 GEL is added for each subsequent child. The changes have been in effect since April 1 and cover most regions of the country, with the exception of Tbilisi.
