In 2025, 2,333 people obtained Georgian citizenship, which is 1,254 fewer than a year earlier, according to data from the National Statistics Service. After the higher figures recorded in 2024, a significant slowdown in the granting of passports and a change in the overall naturalization trend were observed.
The main share went to Russian citizens — 1,393 people, about 60% of the total. The distribution then looks as follows: Germany — 296, Ukraine — 114, Armenia — 104, the United States — 81, Israel — 71, Turkey — 62, Greece — 43, the United Kingdom — 23, other countries — 132.
Thus, the concentration remains high around one category of applicants, while the other states account for significantly smaller shares. Against the backdrop of the overall decline in the number of new citizens, this points to a shift in the country’s migration and administrative activity, while preserving the previous geographic structure of demand.
