Talks on electric vehicle production in Kutaisi have resumed

Kutaisi is back in the game after 7 years of silence

Georgia is once again considering launching electric vehicle production in Kutaisi after a years-long pause. The agency "Produce in Georgia" commissioned a feasibility study for 141,600 euros. The contractor is BDO Consulting with the participation of BDO China and CACI (Jilin) Technology Service.

The analytical work is planned for 3 months, and the final report will be presented by July 31, 2026. Experts will assess the prospects of the project in Kutaisi, including infrastructure, logistics, and access to ports. They will also study demand, production models ranging from semi-knocked-down assembly to full-cycle manufacturing, supply chains, the financial model, and sales markets.

In addition, the economic effect will be calculated: job creation, export growth, and the impact on the budget. Possible incentives for investors will also be considered separately, including tax benefits and infrastructure development. The process will conclude with one of three recommendations: launch, conditional implementation, or rejection of the project.
