Imports of goods from Armenia started through Georgia

From Armenia to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan has recorded imports of goods from Armenia for the first time, with deliveries being carried out in transit through the territory of Georgia. This is reported by the media with reference to the State Customs Committee of the country. The total cost of the first batch was about $960.

According to data for January–March, goods worth $5.757 million were exported in the opposite direction — from Azerbaijan to Armenia. This volume is a small share in the structure of the country's foreign trade, but the very fact that bilateral supplies have appeared is seen as a new stage in economic contacts.

Experts note that so far we are talking about extremely limited volumes, but the very launch of import operations may indicate the gradual formation of trade channels between countries through a neutral transit infrastructure, primarily Georgia.
