People are visiting Georgia less often, but staying longer - a new record has been set

Despite the decline in visits, the country is recording an increase in full-fledged tourist flow and interest from Europe

Georgia has recorded ambiguous tourism dynamics: the total number of visits in the first quarter of 2026 decreased by 1.1% and amounted to 1,300,505.

At the same time, the country showed a record for the number of tourists who stay for more than 24 hours — there were 997,529 such visits, which is 4% more than a year earlier.

Turkey remains the leader in the number of trips with 238,368 visits. The key markets also include the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Poland and Israel. The growth of interest from Europe is especially noticeable: the total number of visits from the EU and Great Britain increased by 30%, reaching 96,226.

Individual countries showed strong growth, including Italy (+70.7%), Slovakia (+87.6%) and Spain (+44.4%). The flow from China (+48.6%) and the Republic of Korea (+67.2%) also increased. At the same time, geopolitical factors hit individual destinations: the number of tourists from Iran almost halved, and from India and Israel also decreased significantly.
