Georgian Ports Increase Turnover

Growth in indicators supports strategic projects and digital transformation

In the first three months of 2026, Georgian seaports handled 188,149 TEU containers, a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Deputy Minister of Economy Tamar Ioseliani noted that the positive trend that began in 2025 continues this year, and the country's role in regional and global logistics continues to grow.

The Port of Poti stood out in particular, recording record volumes and the number of container ships received, while the Port of Batumi increased container handling by 3%. The Minister emphasized that infrastructure development and digital transformation, including the "single window" system, ensure transparency and security of operations, as well as support for new strategic projects, such as the Anaklia deep-sea port for Panamax and Post-Panamax type vessels.

In 2025, Georgian ports demonstrated record performance: container traffic increased by 17%, general cargo by 20%, and ferry traffic by 31%. The joint development of ports, railways, and highways creates a comprehensive system capable of withstanding the growing flow of goods and strengthening Georgia's position as an important logistics hub in the region.
