Solar Boom in Georgia: Panel Imports Soar 12-Fold

Active demand is driven by the rapid development of "green" generation

Georgia is rapidly increasing investments in renewable energy. In January–February 2026, imports of specialized technologies reached $50 million, with purchases of solar panels increasing by a factor of 12 to $30 million. Wind generators also showed strong growth, with imports increasing 4.5 times to $20 million.

The trend has been intensifying since last year: in 2025, deliveries of energy equipment increased 4-fold to $93 million, largely due to wind energy. At the same time, current indicators are already ahead of last year's - in the first 2 months alone, imports of solar panels exceeded the entire result of 2025, which amounted to about $24 million.

Active demand is driven by the rapid development of "green" generation. New solar power plants have already been commissioned in the country, and the second wind power plant with a capacity of 19 MW has been launched in test mode. In the near future, it is planned to launch a large wind farm with a capacity of 200 MW and build a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 MW, which will further accelerate the country's energy transformation.
