Imports of Renewable Technologies to Georgia Have Increased Sharply

Supply growth has continued since 2025

In the first two months of 2026, Georgia increased imports of equipment for renewable energy to $50 million. Imports of solar panels jumped 12 times, reaching $30 million, and wind generators - 4.5 times, to $20 million.

Supply growth has continued since 2025. Then, the total import of power equipment and rotary electrical converters reached $93 million, which is four times more than before, and solar panels rose in price by 80%, to $24 million. At the same time, in January-February 2026 alone, the supply of solar panels has already exceeded the entire last year's figure.

The demand for renewable energy technologies is supported by the large-scale construction of solar and wind power plants. In 2025, six small solar power plants were commissioned in the country. In 2026, the construction of large projects was started: the second wind power plant with a capacity of 19 MW was launched near Kaspi, it is planned to open a wind farm with a capacity of 200 MW near Gori and a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 MW in Marneuli.
