Car prices in Georgia have already started to rise

The reason was the recent parliamentary bill on increasing excise taxes

Cars in Georgia are already noticeably becoming more expensive - the increase is 2000-2500 dollars, said the founder of HOA Auto Import Rezo Tabatadze in an interview with BusinessPressNews. The reason was the recent parliamentary bill on increasing excise taxes on cars older than six years.

According to Tabatadze, the increase in customs clearance directly increases the cost of cars. Sellers are already adjusting prices, realizing that imports are becoming more expensive: a car that cost about 10 thousand dollars a month ago will cost 12-12.5 thousand when calculated at new rates today.

Georgia does not have its own car production, the entire market depends on imported supplies, mainly from auctions in the USA and South Korea. Reducing the number of importers and increasing competition at auctions further push prices up. As a result, the increase in price will become irreversible, and buyers will have to pay more for similar cars.
