Vehicle inspection may rise sharply: Georgia talks about a 50% price increase

The industry complains about staff turnover and outdated tariffs

In Georgia, the cost of vehicle inspection may increase significantly. Industry representatives stated that the current tariffs have not been revised for a long time and no longer correspond to the current economic situation.

Giorgi Shiolashvili, Executive Director of the Association of Technical Inspection Centers, said that in order for the system to operate stably, the cost of technical inspection needs to be increased by about 50%. According to him, unchanged tariffs directly affect the salaries of employees and create serious problems for the entire industry.

Shiolashvili noted that technical inspection centers are facing a high turnover of personnel: many specialists leave due to low incomes. Without a revision of prices, it is becoming increasingly difficult to retain employees, therefore, an increase in tariffs is being considered as one of the possible ways to maintain the operability of the technical inspection system.
