In Georgia, specialized organizations have proposed to the authorities to make the use of child car seats mandatory for children under 6 years old. The reason for this was the statistics for 2025: the number of children injured or killed in accidents has increased sharply, while only about 60% of parents in Tbilisi and even fewer in the regions use restraint devices.

"Our children die in accidents because they are not fastened in special seats. A car seat protects a child from injury by 60–80%," says Eka Laliashvili, Chairman of the "Georgian Alliance for Safe Roads".

Previously, the authorities refused to introduce the mandatory use of car seats, citing their high cost. Now the initiative is being discussed again against the background of tightening transport policy: it is planned to introduce compulsory motor third party liability insurance (OSAGO) and a ban on the import of cars older than 6 years.
