Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs is procuring portable systems for monitoring vehicle noise

For a total of $135.2 thousand

Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced a tender for the purchase of 15 portable systems for measuring vehicle noise levels. The total procurement cost is estimated at 360,750 lari ($135.2 thousand), bm.ge reports.

The systems must include a Class 1 sound dosimeter, an engine rpm analyzer with OBD II, a mobile device with an application in the Georgian language, a thermal printer, and a portable case with 12-hour autonomous power supply. The supplier is required to provide technical support and train operators. Applications will be accepted from February 27 to March 2.

From January 1, 2026, new rules limiting vehicle noise are in force in Georgia: at night (from 23:00 to 08:00) in populated areas, the permissible level must not exceed 80 dB. Violators face fines — 100 lari for the first violation, 200 lari for a repeat violation, and 300 lari for subsequent ones. Monitoring will be carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
