Tbilisi Announces Tender for Tram Construction in Didi Digomi

Project worth $155 million

The Tbilisi City Hall has launched a new tender for the design and construction of a modern tram line in the Didi Digomi district. The preliminary cost of the project is estimated at 416.6 million GEL (approximately $155 million). The previous procedure, announced in the fall, was revised following requests from international companies to adjust the conditions. Updated applications will be accepted starting from March 31.

The contractor is required to have confirmed experience in implementing at least two tram projects since 2010. The city authorities plan to put the purchase of 11 rolling stocks to a separate tender after the start of construction work.

The route, approximately 7.5 km long, will connect the third and fourth micro-districts of Didi Digomi with the Didube metro station, passing through Agmashenebeli Alley. It is planned to equip 11 stops, with each train having a capacity of at least 300 passengers. The project includes the creation of a depot for ten trains with one reserve. The implementation of the line should improve the transport accessibility of the actively developing area.
