Consideration of restoring railway communication between Russia and Georgia

Through the territory of Abkhazia

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk announced plans to restore railway communication between Russia and Georgia through the territory of Abkhazia. According to him, work is currently underway to unblock all damaged roads in the Caucasus, and the restoration of this route is a priority.

In addition, Overchuk spoke about the start of work to restore two sections of the railway in Armenia: one connects the Eraskh region with the Azerbaijani region, the second connects the Akhuryan region with the Turkish railway network. These measures will provide direct rail communication through the region, significantly expanding transport capabilities.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the restoration of these railways opens up new routes for Russia to Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran, and therefore to the ocean ports of the Persian Gulf and India. This is a strategic step to strengthen the country's transport and trade network.
