Georgian Railway has announced the start of a massive renovation of railway stations and stations throughout the country. The company has launched 10 tenders for infrastructure reconstruction, with total purchases estimated at 4.1 million lari, which exceeds $1.5 million. The works will affect both passenger areas and platforms.
According to the terms of the tenders, contractors will have to put in order platforms, stopping areas and waiting rooms. The list of objects includes stations in Ureki, Gomi, Chiatura and Ozurgeti, as well as stops at the Green Cape and the Botanical Garden in the resorts of Adjara. The update is aimed at increasing passenger comfort and improving the appearance of stations.
Applications for participation in tenders can be submitted until the end of February, it is planned to complete all work by the end of August. Earlier, Georgian Railway also announced its intention to repair the entire fleet of passenger trains running between the cities of the country, which makes the current program part of a broader modernization of the industry.
