Employees of the Batumi customs zone stopped the illegal import of 59 luxury cars with a total value of approximately 5 million euros.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the inspection revealed that the cars had counterfeit identification codes assigned by the manufacturer.
"This fact is unprecedented in scale... According to the documents, the cars were intended to be sent to Asian countries to private individuals," said David Klimenko, head of the Batumi branch of the Revenue Service.
The materials have been transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for further investigation and action against the organizers of the attempted illegal import.
