In 2025, the volume of deposits in the banking system of Georgia reached almost 67 billion lari, showing steady growth over the year. According to the National Bank of the country, excluding the impact of exchange rate fluctuations, the annual increase was 15.78%. At the end of December, banks held 66.93 billion lari, which is 1.23 billion lari, or 1.87%, more than a month earlier.
At the same time, the structure of deposits changed in December. The volume of term deposits decreased by 447 million lari, which corresponds to a decrease of 1.42%. Simultaneously, funds in current accounts increased significantly: their volume increased immediately by 1.68 billion lari, or 5%, which indicates a more cautious strategy of depositors.
Additionally, the National Bank noted the increasing role of the national currency. The coefficient of larization of deposits as of the end of December was 52%. The US dollar still dominates in foreign currency deposits with a share of 78.3%, while the euro accounts for about 20% of the total volume of foreign currency deposits.
