Smartphone Imports to Georgia are Falling

Re-exports from the Emirates and the Czech Republic dominate the market, direct supplies from China are minimal

In 2025, Georgia imported smartphones worth $243 million, which is 3% less than in 2024. The United Arab Emirates became the leader in supplies with $145 million, a significant part of which is re-export. The Czech Republic is in second place with $53.6 million, also through re-export, and Vietnam is third with $22.5 million. Direct imports from China amounted to only $12 million, and from Hong Kong - $5.1 million, despite the fact that most phones are produced there.

The decline in imports has been continuing for the third year in a row: in 2023, purchases amounted to $285 million, in 2024 - $252 million. The average cost of one phone in 2025 was 304 dollars (824 GEL), taking into account 18% VAT - approximately 973 GEL, which forms the average price of a new smartphone on the market of about 1000 GEL.

Analysts note that the Georgian market is increasingly dependent on re-exports, and direct supplies from manufacturers remain limited, which affects the range and cost of devices for end consumers.
