Tbilisi Airport to Expand: Contract with TAV Extended with $150 Million Investment

Capacity to Increase to 10 Million Passengers per Year, State Revenue to Triple

The Georgian government has extended the contract with TAV Georgia to manage Tbilisi International Airport for another five years. The new agreement includes a large-scale infrastructure upgrade: TAV's parent company, Groupe ADP of France, will invest up to $150 million. The document was signed between TAV and the "Airports Association of Georgia" in Tbilisi.

The project involves expanding the existing terminal by approximately 50%. This will increase the airport's capacity from 5 million to 10 million passengers per year. The number of aircraft parking spaces will increase from 58 to 65, the baggage area will be expanded, and modern services for passengers will be introduced. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze noted that the investment will not only increase capacity but also significantly improve the quality of service.

The agreement includes an advance payment of $25 million, and the state-owned company's annual revenue will triple. TAV will also support airlines in opening new routes and attracting international carriers. Authorities expect that the construction of a new airport in Vaziani will be completed by the end of the contract, and the total capacity of the two hubs could reach 28 million passengers per year.
