Cargo Air Transportation in Georgia is Declining

Growth Recorded Due to Road and Rail Transport

In 2025, cargo air transportation volumes in Georgia significantly decreased, although the overall transportation volume increased due to road and rail transport. Giorgi Zumbadze, Managing Partner at SKYLOG, explains this by a decrease in demand for charter flights: the Chinese platform TEMU now organizes delivery itself, leaving local carriers at a disadvantage.

According to him, air transportation showed a decline worldwide, while road transportation increased by 100%, and rail and sea routes also gained momentum. Thus, the overall cargo transportation market in 2025 turned out to be significantly more active than in 2024, despite the decline in the aviation segment.

The expert notes that no significant changes in cargo air transportation should be expected in 2026. Meanwhile, TEMU continues to use Chinese agents for delivery to countries in the region, including Georgia and Armenia, which is gradually changing the balance between different types of transportation.
