Tbilisi ranked in the middle of the global road congestion rating

Traffic in the Georgian capital is more intense than in Moscow

According to the updated 2026 road congestion index from the research organization Numbeo, Tbilisi ranked 171st out of 340 cities worldwide. This means that traffic in the Georgian capital is more intense than in Moscow, Baku, or Ankara, but significantly freer than in the most congested megacities in the world.

Neighboring capitals are ranked as follows: Moscow - 28th place, Baku - 143rd, Ankara - 146th, Yerevan - 273rd. Experts note that the most congested roads are in Lagos, San Jose, and Los Angeles, and the least congested are in Tartu, Villach, and Pilsen.

The index takes into account not only travel time, but also the degree of driver dissatisfaction, CO2 emissions, and the overall efficiency of the transport system.

According to analysts, the average indicator for Tbilisi reflects the growing burden on the capital's roads and the need to develop transport infrastructure.
