Georgia Paralyzed: Almost All Trains Halted

All Due to Bad Weather

Heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures have gripped Western Georgia, forcing railway authorities to suspend passenger train services for two days. According to "Georgian Railway," the restrictions will affect all main and suburban routes from January 3 to 4, with the exception of the Tbilisi-Batumi route. The company explained that the bad weather creates obstacles for the safe movement of trains, and apologized to passengers, guaranteeing a full refund of ticket costs.

Meteorologists warn of a sharp drop in temperature in most of the country: in the Colchis Valley, the night temperature will drop to -8 degrees, and in Shida Kartli - to -17. Icy conditions are expected on some roads, which complicates movement not only by rail, but also on highways.

Rail traffic is almost completely paralyzed, with only the Tbilisi-Batumi-Tbilisi train running. Authorities urge citizens to plan their trips in advance and take into account weather conditions, and passengers are asked to remain calm and follow official GR notifications.
