Railway to Anaklia Port: Project Set to Launch

Georgian Railway is preparing to announce a tender and begin infrastructure construction

Georgian Railway Company will soon begin creating railway infrastructure for the future Anaklia deep sea port. This was announced by the CEO of GR, Lasha Abashidze, who noted that the decision to start the project has already been made.

According to him, a tender will be announced soon, after which the construction of access railway tracks will begin. The project includes not only the construction of the railway itself, but also the creation of a contact line, which emphasizes its scale and strategic importance.

In addition, the work includes the construction of a cargo station that will be directly connected to the port of Anaklia and will ensure efficient cargo handling. The project is expected to take approximately 2–2.5 years and will become an important element in the development of Georgia's transport infrastructure.
