Starting December 22, strict speed control comes into effect on Georgian highways. The Department of Road Traffic has installed new signs indicating the permissible speed for various categories of vehicles. The 80 km/h limit will apply to trucks, buses, minibuses, and cars with trailers.
The signs are installed at the exits of interchanges so that drivers can assess the road situation in advance and safely plan their route. These restrictions are based on existing laws since 2013, and the new signs only visualize the rules for the convenience of drivers.
From today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will begin to impose penalties for exceeding the speed of 80 km/h on sections with differentiated regulation. The agency urges drivers to pay close attention to the signs and follow traffic rules.
