Cryptocurrency ATM defrauded in Tbilisi

The attackers carried out transactions for 8,000 GEL using fake forms instead of cash

Two suspects have been detained in Tbilisi for fraud involving a cryptocurrency ATM. According to the investigation, they used counterfeit "forms" instead of banknotes, which the machine accepted as real money. In this way, the attackers were able to carry out transactions totaling 8,000 GEL, misleading the system.

The suspects were identified as L. Dz., born in 2001, and D. B., born in 1993. The investigation clarifies that the criminals' actions are classified as fraud committed as part of a group. Both detainees are in custody, and an investigation is underway into their involvement in other similar incidents.

If found guilty, they face up to seven years in prison. Law enforcement agencies emphasize the importance of security when working with cryptocurrency machines and urge device owners to increase control over their operation to prevent such cases.
