Russia has reported the import of 34.6 thousand used cars from Georgia since the beginning of 2025, while official Georgian statistics record only a few deliveries. This data was published by Sergey Tselikov, director of the analytical agency "Autostat," who pointed out that the import volume has increased more than threefold compared to the same period last year.
According to "Autostat," in November alone, 4,778 cars older than three years were imported into Russia from Georgia, which is 227% more than a year earlier. Among the most popular brands were BMW, Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Kia, and the leading models were BMW X5, Chevrolet Equinox, and BMW X7. At the same time, cars without mileage were not taken into account in the calculations. The data cited by Tselikov was obtained from the "Electronic Passport System" and is not publicly available.
At the same time, the National Statistics Office of Georgia reports that only 8 cars worth $139,300 were officially delivered to Russia between January and October. At the same time, re-exports to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are estimated at tens of thousands of cars and billions of dollars. Despite the bans imposed by Tbilisi on re-exports to Russia and Belarus, market participants, according to media reports, continue to find workarounds, as a result of which cars formally intended for third countries actually end up on the Russian market.
