Dangerous e-scooters: Georgian Interior Ministry reveals accident data

Separate accounting showed where the risk is higher - and who is most likely to get into accidents

The Georgian Interior Ministry has for the first time started keeping separate statistics on road accidents involving e-scooters and published data for the first 9 months of 2025. According to official information, 66 accidents involving e-scooters were recorded during this period, in which people were injured, but no fatalities were registered.

Updated figures for other types of two-wheeled transport have also been published. There were 27 accidents involving cyclists, 23 people were injured, and two accidents resulted in fatalities. The statistics for mopeds include 34 accidents and 39 injuries, with no fatalities recorded.

The most alarming figures were for motorcycles. In January-September 2025, 748 accidents involving motorcyclists occurred in Georgia, in which 713 people were injured and 20 died. The new data underscore the sharp contrast between different categories of transport and reinforce the discussion about the need for additional road safety measures.
