Georgia and China have agreed on mutual recognition of diplomas and certificates of higher education. The corresponding agreement was signed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and the Ministry of Education of the PRC. The document has already been published in the Legislative Gazette and is aimed at developing cooperation in the field of education and science, as well as increasing academic mobility between the two countries.
The agreement clearly stipulates the conditions for admitting students. Chinese applicants will be able to enter Georgian universities for bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies if they have the appropriate level of education — from a school certificate and a zhuanke diploma to a master's degree. At the same time, Georgian universities retain the right to independently set requirements for grades, exams and qualifications.
Similar principles apply to Georgian students in China. School graduates, bachelors and masters from Georgia will be able to enter Chinese universities and research institutes for programs of all levels — from specialized courses to doctoral studies, subject to the rules of the host party. The agreement is concluded for a period of 5 years with automatic extension for another 5 years and was signed in Wuhan.
