Georgian Cinema in the Global Top: Two Films Immediately Included in the List of Best Films of 2025

The British Film Institute Noted the Works of Dea Kulumbegashvili and Alexander Koberidze

Two Georgian-produced films have been included in the list of the 50 best films of 2025 according to the British Film Institute. Recognition from one of the world's most respected cinematographic organizations has confirmed the high international status of modern Georgian cinema and its relevance to a global audience.

The rating includes the films "April" by director Dea Kulumbegashvili and "A Dry Leaf" by Alexander Koberidze. As noted by the British Film Institute, the films of 2025 actively responded to what was happening in the world, raising the themes of immigration, protest movements, arrests and social conflicts, and cinema itself ceased to be an outside observer.

Both Georgian films focus on deep social and human issues. They touch upon family relationships, the role of women in society, internal conflicts and other acute topics that resonate far beyond the country. The inclusion of two films at once in the prestigious ranking became a notable achievement for the Georgian film industry in 2025.
